If there is one thing I have learned over the years of being in business, is that you must be great with people. By personality, I would honestly say I am not a people person, but over the years I have developed and learned new skills to improve that. Self-development I believe is a key fundamental that helped me grow in this area of my life, personally, and in turn changed how I did business. Below are a few basic tips you can start doing today.

Dealing with people is probably the biggest problem you face, especially if you are in business. Yes, and that is also true if you are a housewife, architect or engineer. – Dale Carnegie

Tips to Improve your Customer Service

Use their Name. Remember everyone loves to hear their own name. It makes them feel special.

Be a good Listener. Don’t make it about you. You will learn a lot about your client if you just take a moment to close your mouth and listen to what they have to say.

FORM. Ask questions about your client – get to know what makes them tick beyond the job or their business. What matters to them? Ask about their family, occupation, recreation and message (FORM).

Smile. This can go a long way – even when you are just on the telephone.

Give Value. Shock clients by going above and beyond, instead of the bare minimum.

Thank You. Send a handwritten thank you note to your most valuable clients. You can even include a simple gift, which goes a long way. This is just to say thank you for being awesome and supporting your business.
